The VRA encourage the development of target rifle shooting and firearms training through their Clubs.

A variety of classes of rifle shooting are conducted under the Standard Shooting Rules of the National Rifle Association of Australia. Membership and active participation in a rifle club offers firearms owners a safe and convenient venue for their use and a genuine reasonto hold a licence. Shooting is open to men and women of all ages.

Membership of the VRA is only available after having first joined an approved affiliated Club.
